Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 – Everything We Know So Far

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is one of the most-leaked phones in the near future. This phone is expected to launch in 2022 with a lot of expectations. Rumours about the Z Fold 4 have been originating steadily for a couple of weeks now, but there’s a lot we still don’t know. So here’s what we’ve learned so far and our thoughts on how it could improve on its predecessor.

Possible Release Date For Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

It is likely that Samsung would avoid launching the Z Fold 4 in mid-September, to avoid competing with the iPhone 14. The release may take place at the end of August or early September. It is possible that the samsung Z Fold 4 was revealed on August 10th, and will be released to the public on August 26th. Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will supposedly open the same day as the launch and last until the 26th of August.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Price Speculation

Yeux1122, on Korean site Naver, claims that the samsung Z Fold 4 price will be cheaper than the predecessor, which cost $1,799. The samsung Z Fold 2 came out in 2020 and cost $1,999. If we forecast that the price of the phone is going to drop by $400 over two years to $1,599 for the Z Fold 4, we will see more potential customers buy foldable phones. With the samsung Z Fold 4 price dropping, we should be seeing a smaller price gap between it and traditional smartphones. This will lead to an increased demand for foldable phones due to the decreased price difference.

Design of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

The samsung Z Fold 4 will have a less “visible” crease in the screen that previously let you know it was folding and then has a weight of about 8.9 ounces, a lot better than the 9.5-ounce of Z Fold 3 and even closer in weight to an iPhone 13.

It is believed that both the exterior display sizes and the interiors will be 6.2 inches and 7.6 inches respectively, just like in the Z Fold 3. Both displays are expected to have a 120 Hz refresh rate, too.

Sources have said that when the phone will be unfolded, it will measure 155 mm x 130 mm x 7.1 mm. The size of this phone would be shorter and wider but thicker than the last mode

We would like to hear more about Samsung reducing the weight of their devices in future models. Samsung may look at reworking the hinges, adding waterproofing and dust-proofing (to reduce water and dust damage), and making a lighter phone. It looks like the samsung Z Fold 4 will come with a single hinge in the centre rather than two. This would create a lighter and thinner design while simultaneously increasing durability.

According to leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s internal display will have a new aspect ratio that’s more square than 5:4. Leakers IU said that this ratio is 6:5, which is closer to being square.

Specifications

You can now pre-order a Samsung Galaxy that has a foldable screen. With this phone you will be able to have dual displays with up to 12GB of RAM, a processor of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, and a storage capacity of 256GB or 512GB. This phone will feature two screens that share a foldable screen measuring 7.6 inches and 6.2-inch secondary screens with HD+ resolutions and 120Hz refresh rates.

Camera

The source points to a triple-lens camera consisting of a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultrawide lens, and 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. There will be a 4x4mp camera on the inside and a 10MP camera on the outside. The battery is also listed at 4,400mAh with 25W charging capability.

Battery And Performance Of The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

The only rumour about the Z Fold 4 that we know of is that it will most likely keep the same battery size as last year’s model. Though rumours from Yogesh Brar and Ice Universe both point to a 4,400 mAh battery, these numbers are still not confirmed.

What We Would Like To See

A Lower Price

Samsung has been lowering prices on recent products. The recently released Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 was cheaper than the previous model. Hopefully, Samsung will employ the same strategy with their next release, the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

We still think the Galaxy Z Fold range is too expensive. The price is high because of the high-tech involved, but we think Samsung should try and push it down.

Camera

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 had an incredible camera but we’d like to see some revisions in the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. The camera should include 10x optical zoom and have a 3x lens on it.

Long Battery Life

Manufacturers of foldable phones struggle with battery capacity because of bigger screens, typically not matching the size of typical batteries. Foldable phones typically have a battery capacity that is comparable to a standard smartphone, despite having much bigger screens. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 includes two displays, but the battery is only average in size at 4,400mAh. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 should have a larger battery and longer life.

S Pen Support For The Front Screen

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 needs to have S Pen stylus support for both screens so the user will be able to use the stylus without switching from it. There was a drawback in Galaxy Z Fold 3 that even though the expansive center screen is likely to be useful for most people, there will be times when people will want to use their stylus on the external screen as well. The external display is much smaller than the center one; it’s only 6.2 inches.
